Diversity and Inclusion
A diverse organisation in a diverse society: that is what De Nederlandsche Bank strives to be. An inclusive organisation where everyone feels welcome, can truly be themselves, and has the opportunity to unlock and develop their talents.
A reflection of a diverse society
As an organisation, we strive for greater diversity in the broadest sense of the word: all the ways in which people can differ, both visible and invisible. Think of cultural background, beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, education, and experience. We do this in the firm belief that with more diversity – more perspectives – we can do our work even better.
Because our organisation has a societal role, we believe it is important that our workforce reflects the diversity of society as closely as possible. However, to truly benefit from this diversity, an inclusive work environment is essential—one in which everyone feels a sense of belonging and is able to be themselves. We are fully committed to making this a reality.
Opportunities always come with dilemmas
We are taking steps to create a safe, inclusive work environment where everyone can be themselves and feel at home. We published our Out & Proud Statement, in which we speak out for LGBTQ+ inclusion and against intolerance. We also strive for more women in leadership roles and more cultural diversity, and we want to provide more workplaces for people with disabilities. As an employer, we want to reduce the latter group’s distance to the labour market by focusing on their potential rather than their limitations.
Working towards a diverse and inclusive work environment
In order to achieve our ambitions, we have integrated diversity and inclusion into our policies and work processes. For example, diversity is a standard topic of discussion in management appointments. We offer employees the opportunity to take two days of special leave annually for a holiday that matches their philosophy of life or religious beliefs. We also have a Diversity Board, to advise on the execution and implementation of our diversity policy and to further promote the importance of diversity and inclusion in all parts of our organisation.
Inspiring networks
By sharing expertise and experience we may enrich one another. That is why many different (online) activities are organised at DNB, such as workshops, seminars, lunches and receptions. In addition, we have several networks by and for employees:
